World Fisheries Day was celebrated in Banda. On this occasion, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh Nishad reached the district. He participated in the program organized at Rajghat Aarti Sthal of Ken River. On this occasion, he inaugurated a one-day workshop conference on training and capacity building under the “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada” scheme. They put fish seeds in the river.

On this occasion, along with the promotion of fisheries, he told a special source of income for the farmers. Said that fisheries have a lot of utility in the farm-pond scheme. Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh said in the workshop on this occasion that the government is working vigorously to bring changes in the fisheries sector to bring progress in the economic sector through blue revolution.
Through this initiative, it is envisaged to increase the income of farmers through increase in production and productivity, improvement in quality and reduction in wastage. Seeing the huge potential of this sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)” in May 2020 with a budget of over Rs 20,050 crore for a period of five years.

PMMSY aims to increase fish production from present 15.0 MMT to 22 MMT by 2024-25 and generate additional employment opportunities to about 55 lakh people through this sector.The workshop was attended by departmental officers, people engaged in fisheries and Other public representatives were also present.
