The minister got angry over the filth. The employees’ salary was deducted for three days.

Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Lucknow in-charge Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna inspected the cleanliness system in the capital on Tuesday. The minister visited four wards of the Municipal Corporation and took stock of the cleanliness system there. The in-charge minister gave a detailed report on the cleanliness system.

Minister arrived to inspect four wards

The minister in charge conducted a field inspection of the cleanliness system of Babu Banarasi Das Ward, Lal Kuan Ward, JC Bose Ward and Yadunath Sanyal Nazarbag Ward. He expressed dissatisfaction and resentment over the cleanliness system, especially the drain cleaning. He instructed the municipal corporation officials to improve the cleanliness system at all costs.

He said that permanent or temporary obstructions affecting the drainage system should be removed. Such obstructions which block the drains and cause waterlogging should be removed immediately. AP Sen inspected the big drain in Lalkuan Ward on Road. Gave instructions to clean it and build a wall on the side.

Silt found in drains

Silt was found in the drain on Latouch Road in Rani Laxmi Bai Ward. Expressing anger over this, the minister ordered immediate cleaning. He also ordered disciplinary action against the concerned beat in-charge/sanitation chief Raju and sanitation and food inspector Sanjeev Kumar.

Inspected the cleaning of the drain under construction near Ghasiyari Mandi in JC Bose Ward. When dirt was found in the drain etc., instructions were given to take action against the concerned beat in-charge/supervisor Rahul and cleanliness and food inspector Mukesh Kumar. Gave instructions to activate the closed tubewell located in the ward and to immediately clean the sewer flowing in the service lane.

Silt and dirt were found in the drains at some places in Yadunath-Sanyal ward. On which the minister ordered to take action against beat incharge Suraj and Neeraj and to get the drains cleaned daily. Instructions were also given to review it on 24 June. In the same sequence, orders were given to issue show cause notices to the cleaning and food inspectors.

During the inspection of Hyder Canal, the minister instructed that a plan should be made to put slabs on it. A permanent solution should be found to the problem of water logging due to this drain. During the inspection, many people including Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Municipal Commissioner Indrajit Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Lalit Kumar, Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao were present.
