There is good news for Team India currently playing Test series against England. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami is fit and he may be available for selection from the third Test match. Shami bowled on the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Saturday. Shami was injured in a tour of Australia in December. He returned to India in the middle of the series.
He was injured in the Adelaide Test
Shami was injured in the first Test match played in Adelaide on Team India’s tour of Australia. While batting in the second innings, Shami suffered a right hand wrist injury off Pat Cummins. He was then eliminated from the remaining three matches of the series. Shami is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He bowled at the nets on Saturday. He posted a video of this on social media. In this, he is seen with Navdeep Saini. Saini was also injured in the final Test played in Bisbrain on the tour of Australia.
Now the doctor has advised slow bowling
The NCA source said that Shami has been advised by the doctor to bowl slow at the nets. He can only bowl 18 balls for a few days. The runnerup is still small. Since he has been away from cricket for more than a month. In this case, the workload will be increased gradually. His training will be increased from next week. He will be fully fit before the final two Tests of the ongoing series between India and England. The third Test match of the series will be played at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad from 24 February. Apart from this, the fourth match will also be played at the same stadium from March 4.
Shami’s best record in home grounds
In Test cricket, Shami has a great record on home grounds. He has taken 62 wickets in 16 matches. That is, he has taken an average of 3.88 wickets per Test match even on the lifeless pitches of India. In this case, he is ahead of Kapil Dev (3.36), Javagal Srinath (3.37), Zaheer Khan (2.73) and Ishant Sharma (2.63). He has taken 180 wickets in 50 matches in his career. Mohammed Shami has played 11 Tests against England so far. In that he has taken 31 wickets.
