Mrunal Thakur, who has gained fame not only in the world of Bollywood but also in the realm of regional cinema, recently attended the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2023 in Dubai. The star-studded event, held on Friday evening, witnessed the presence of countless celebrities from the film fraternity. However, amidst the dazzling array of stars, it was Mrunal Thakur who stole the limelight. She earned two prestigious titles— Best Actress (Critics) and Best Debut in Telugu Cinema for her extraordinary portrayal in the critically acclaimed Sita Ramam.

Over the years, she has meticulously carved a niche with her stellar performances and versatile acting prowess. Film Sita Ramam has not only won accolades from critics but also captured the hearts of audiences far and wide. The recent accolades Mrunal secured at the 11th edition of SIIMA Awards 2023 testify to her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude, Mrunal Thakur shared a series of photos of herself, on Instagram, holding the awards. In her caption, she wrote, “Thank you SIIMA Awards for this incredible honour and for making this memorable journey as Sita, so much more special for me!”

She further added, “I never imagined that my Telugu debut would be met with SOOOO much love… It’s still unbelievable to see how you all have welcomed me as your very own Sita Gaaru, and the love you’ll have shown me, my character, and the film is beyond my wildest dreams…thank you to the lovely audience for it all. I said this before and I will say it again, I promise to always entertain you with every role I take on for many many many more years, and I hope you welcome them with as much love as you’ve given Sita. Thank you everyone”

Prior to her own post, SIIMA had shared the actress’s photo on Twitter (now known as X), officially announcing her victory.

“Kudos to the exceptionally talented Mrunal Thakur for clinching the coveted Best Actress in a Leading Role – Critics (Telugu) Award at SIIMA 2023, all thanks to her outstanding performance in Sita Ramam. Her portrayal was nothing short of mesmerizing, breathing life into her character on the big screen,” the caption read.

At this year’s SIIMA event, Mrunal Thakur attended the event in a body-hugging shimmery pink gown, exuding elegance and grace.

Notably, the film Sita Ramam, in which she portrayed the character of the female lead, Sita, also secured the Best Film (Telugu) award. Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Sita Ramam is a tragic romance film. Apart from Mrunal, Dulquer Salmaan and Rashmika Mandanna are also a part of the film. It was released in August 2022.
