An officer abducted from Chennai was burnt alive in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The severely scorched officer died on Saturday. Investigations have revealed that a ransom of Rs 10 lakh was sought in exchange for the release of the Navy officer. The Palghar police has started an investigation against unknown people by registering a case of kidnapping and murder.

Kidnapped from outside Chennai airport
SP Dattatray Shinde of Palghar said that Suraj Kumar Dubey (27), a navy officer from Ranchi, Jharkhand, was kidnapped from outside Chennai Airport on 30 January. After taking hostage at an undisclosed location in Chennai for three days, the accused took him to Palghar and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his family. Police believe that due to non-receipt of money, they were taken into the forest in Vevji area of ​​Dahanu Talasri in Palghar and put petrol on them on Friday (January 5) and set them on fire.

A villager saw the living burning and made a noise
However, during the time when the accused were burning the sun a local man caught sight of him and he made a noise. After this, the accused escaped leaving Suraj. The same person informed the Gholvad police station and the police team who reached the spot admitted him to the sub district hospital in Dahanu, where Suraj informed the police about the kidnapping incident.

Broken in hospital
After Suraj’s condition worsened, doctors referred him to Mumbai. Where Suraj Kumar died on Saturday during treatment. Palghar SP Dattatreya Shinde said that information has been given to his family members.
