Since then, the practice of Lathmar Holi started in both these villages. This tradition is celebrated even today.

Holi in Barsana begins with Holika Ashtak

In Braj, although Holi begins with Basant Panchami, it ends with Holi played at the Ranganath temple. The real fun of this Holi, which lasts for 40 days, comes from Holika Ashtak. Laddu Holi is played 9 days before Holika Dahan in Barsana. Along with this, Holi of colors, Abir, Gulal, sticks and coals starts in Braj.
