NCERT Syllabus 2023-24: Periodic table and democracy removed from 10th syllabus, this decision was taken to reduce the burden of studies

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has removed entire chapters on Periodic Classification of Elements, Democracy, Political Party (Full Page), Challenges of Democracy from the 10th syllabus. This decision has been taken to reduce the burden of studies on the students in view of the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the students.

This chapter was removed at the beginning of the year

Earlier this year, after the removal of Theory of Evolution from the 10th class syllabus, many experts had expressed their displeasure. More than 1,800 scientists and teachers had written letters against it.

Due to this the decision was taken to remove these chapters

Students can still study about these topics provided they choose subjects related to these topics in 11th and 12th. Explaining the reason for the removal of these courses, NCERT said that due to the difficulty of these chapters, overlapping of the same content and the lack of importance of these content in today’s context, it has been decided to remove it.
