The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Examination across the country on Sunday, October 4. After the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the examination, now this examination will be conducted according to its fixed schedule. According to the affidavit filed by UPSC following the court’s directive, more than 10 lakh candidates have applied for the Civil Services Examination 2020 this year. As of Monday, around 65 percent of the registered candidates had downloaded their admit card.
Examination will be held at 2,569 centers
All preparations have been completed for this exam to be held tomorrow. The examination is to be held at 2,569 centers in different cities of the country. Initially the Civil Services Preliminary Examination-2020 was to be held on 31 May, but due to Corona epidemic, the Commission postponed it to its new date of 4 October. Candidates must follow the guidelines issued by the UPSC to guard against corona during the examinations being held in the corona period.
Transport facility for examination also
In view of the examination, the Cabinet Secretary and the UPSC Secretary have instructed all the Chief Secretaries to provide proper transport facility to the candidates on October 3 and 4, so that they do not face any difficulty in reaching the examination center. In the same sequence, Railways has also decided to run several special trains across the country.
The UPSC conducts the preliminary, main and interview civil service examinations in three phases to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) every year.
