Paris Olympic Games from next month
Neeraj winning the gold is also important for India because the Paris Olympic Games are from 26 July to 11 August. Neeraj suffered a muscle strain during practice last month. Due to this, he did not participate in the Ostrava Golden Spike tournament held in the Czech Republic on 28 May. Neeraj gave this information on social media.
Neeraj Chopra wrote, “I have had this problem before. If I push myself at this stage, it can turn into an injury. I am making it clear that I am not injured, but I do not want to take any risk before the Olympics.
I will return to the championship as soon as I am fully recovered. Thank you for your support.”
Neeraj was first ahead and then behind
Neeraj Chopra came first to throw and he threw 83.62 meters in his first attempt. However, this was not a bad start for him. He was ahead of Anderson Peters, who threw 82.58 meters in his first attempt.
In the second attempt, Neeraj threw 83.45 meters which was not better than his initial attempt. After the second attempt, Neeraj fell behind and Olivier Helander took the lead. Olivier threw 83.96 meters in the second attempt. This pushed Neeraj to second place.
Got ahead in the third throw
After falling behind in the second attempt, Neeraj made a great comeback in the third attempt. He took the lead by throwing 85.97 meters. This was Neeraj’s best throw. Neeraj was the only player among the 8 javelin throw athletes who crossed the 85 meter throw.
At the same time, Olivier could not even cross 83 meters in his third attempt and he threw 82.60 meters. After the third attempt was over, Neeraj maintained his lead. He threw 82.21 meters in the fourth attempt.
This was Neeraj’s weakest throw of the competition, but it did not affect his lead because no other athlete could even come close to his best throw. In this way, Neeraj maintained his lead even after the fourth attempt ended.
The fifth foul happened, but no one could leave him behind
Neeraj committed a foul in the fifth attempt, but the matter of relief was that no one could leave Neeraj behind even in this attempt and even after the end of the fifth attempt, the supremacy of this Tokyo Olympics gold medalist remained intact.
In the fifth attempt, only Adrian Mardare was able to cross the 82 meter throw, while three players including Neeraj committed a foul. However, in the sixth attempt, Neeraj threw 82.97 meters. Interestingly, in the last attempt, only Neeraj and Max Dehing were able to make a successful attempt, while all the other players committed a foul.
