New York Restaurant Faces Lawsuit After Customer Finds Mutilated Finger In Meal – News18

A Connecticut woman had an unexpected and disturbing experience at a Chopt salad location in Mount Kisco, New York, last April, as she alleged to have bitten down on an employee’s severed finger. Chopt Creative Salad Co, a fast-casual chain with over 70 restaurants in the Northeast and South, emphasises its commitment to making healthy eating exciting by using fresh, local produce to create nutritious and delicious meals.

However, the food outlet faced a hiccup on April 7 when Allison Cozzi, the plaintiff, found a mutilated finger in her salad. “Shortly after [the] plaintiff purchased the salad, while she was eating the salad, she realised that she was chewing on a portion of a human finger that had been mixed in, and made a part of, the salad,” according to The New York Post’s review of the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleged that “earlier in the day, an employee working at the aforementioned Chopt Creative Salad Company restaurant was chopping arugula and chopped off, or cut off, a portion of her left pointer finger.”

The employee, after being swiftly taken to a local hospital, unfortunately, left the severed finger behind. It somehow found its way back to the ingredients station, ultimately making its way into the plaintiff’s salad. Following the incident, Allison Cozzi has allegedly experienced a range of severe personal injuries, including shock, panic attacks, migraines, exacerbated cognitive impairment, traumatic stress, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and neck and shoulder pain.

The lawsuit is pursuing an unspecified amount in damages from Chopt and its parent company, Founders Table Restaurant Group, citing negligence and “statutory violations.”

The Westchester County Department of Health reportedly issued a violation to the restaurant, accompanied by a $900 fine, which did little to alleviate the plaintiff’s distress.

Neither Chopt nor the plaintiff’s attorney, Marc Reibman, has responded. However, Reibman said that he and his client would not be providing further comments on the lawsuit. He mentioned, “My client has instructed me that she does not want any publicity. She is not interested in anything that is going to increase the stress or anxiety that this has caused her,” he said.
