Now there will be a chance to take admission in universities and colleges twice a year. The University Grants Commission i.e. UGC has approved starting the admission process twice a year in universities and higher education institutes. UGC Chairman Jagdish M Kumar says that this will increase opportunities for students and Indian higher education institutions will become of global standard.

Placement drives will also be held twice a year
The UGC chief also informed that campus placement drives will also be organized twice a year. In this way, students will get a chance to get employment twice a year.

The rule will be applicable from 2024-25 academic session
The process of biannual admission twice a year will be implemented from the 2024-25 academic session. The first admission cycle will be held in July-August while the second in January-February.

On this decision, UGC Chairman said, ‘If Indian universities give admission twice a year, it will be beneficial for many students who miss out on admission in the July-August session due to delay in board results or any other reason.’

Now there is no fear of the year getting wasted
UGC says that with the provision of double admission, students who missed the initial admission cycle due to delay in board results, health issues or personal reasons will get a chance to get admission again. Due to this system, students will remain motivated and the fear of wasting a year will also end from within them. In such a situation, they will not have to wait for a year.

It is not mandatory to adopt the admission process twice a year
However, it is not mandatory to adopt a biannual admission process. Institutions can start a biannual admission process only when they are administratively ready to manage faculty members, employees and students.

The higher education institutions that take this decision must have the necessary infrastructure. They can take advantage of this opportunity to increase the enrollment of students and start this innovative program.
