Actress Nusrat Bharucha has shared her painful experience related to Israel by sharing a post on her social media. Nusrat has said- Last week has given us an unforgettable memory. I will never forget these 36 hours. When I woke up on the morning of 7th October, only the sounds of bombs exploding and loud sirens were coming from all around. Didn’t even know what was going to happen next.
Nusrat was caught in the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Nusrat’s team last spoke to her at 12:30 pm last Saturday. Since then no update related to him had come out. However, later she returned to India with the help of the Indian Embassy.
See Nusrat’s long post below, in which she has given complete details related to Israel trip….
First part – The past moment was never to be forgotten
I will always remember last week. This week was such a wonderful 36 hours that I will never forget. On October 3, I went to Haifa, Israel to participate in the Haifa Film Festival for the screening of my film Akeli. Israeli co-actors Tsahi Halevi and Amir Boutros were also present with me.
After reaching there, we went to visit many historical places in Israel. Then we had dinner with all the cast of the film on the evening of 6th October. Everyone celebrated working in the film. Then we promised that next time too we will definitely work together in a film.
After this we all returned back to the hotel. When I opened my eyes the next morning on October 7, nothing was like the previous evening. The sound of bombs exploding and loud sirens were coming from all sides. This left us in complete panic. After this we all were taken to the basement of the hotel. After some time we came to know that Israel had been attacked by Hamas terrorists.
Second part- There was open firing on the streets of Israel.
In this situation of terror, we all wanted to contact the Indian Embassy somehow. The Indian Embassy was located just 2 kilometers away from our hotel, but covering even that distance seemed impossible. It seemed as if bombs were falling very close to us. Then the news came out that Hamas terrorists had infiltrated into many cities of Israel. Now they are also on the streets, throwing people out of their homes and shooting people randomly.
Apart from this, open firing was going on on the roads and vehicles. Just then, we heard the second siren going and we went back to the basement shelter.
It was soon realized that we would not be able to catch a flight back to India on time. To get out of this bad environment, we appealed to everyone for help. Tsahi Halevi said that there is a state of emergency in Israel.
Third part- Indian and Israeli embassies helped a lot
We contacted the Indian and Israeli embassies through the advisory issued by the Government of India. He shared important guidelines with us. It seemed that the flight would be cancelled. Our phone batteries were draining rapidly and the network was also going down.
However, at this time the Israeli co-actors and the hotel people helped us a lot. In this bad time, a taxi driver also helped us selflessly, risking his life. Then in this dangerous environment we prepared ourselves to reach the airport.
Fourth part- I am thankful to the Government of India, Indian Embassy and Israeli Embassy.
The journey from the hotel in Tel Aviv to the airport was full of danger. Despite this, we gathered courage and started this journey. Sometimes he prayed and sometimes cried on the way. They moved forward, encouraging each other. Finally somehow Ben Gurion reached the airport.
Staying at the airport even for a second was no less than a pain. After a long struggle, we boarded the flight and returned back to India safely.
I am back home safe and sound with my family. I am thankful to the Government of India, the Indian Embassy and the Israeli Embassy for bringing my team and me back safely. I also heartily thank all those who have prayed for my safety.
