Despite rains interrupting the warm-up game between Bangladesh and England, the English bowlers manage to put in their contributions as they restricted Bangladesh for a mere 188 in 37 overs.

After rain delays in Guwahati, Bangladesh were only able to set a target of 188-9 from 37 overs against England in the World Cup warm-up match.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) stadium, on Monday, saw rains interrupting the match between Bangladesh and England at 30 overs of play when Adil Rashid was bowling against Bangladesh.

Quickly and very efficiently the ground staff covered the entire cricket ground at the ACA, Barsapara Guwahati in Assam. ย

Rains came in to disrupt yet another warm-up fixture in Guwahati at the ACA Stadium.

The match then resumed at 7:30 pm and the umpires declared that the overs would be reduced to 37 overs per side.

Sam Curran provided the team with a good start after the rain break as he started with a wicket of Towhid Hridoy for 5 runs, while Reece Topley dismissed Mahedi for just 3 runs and Wiley took Nasum for a duck as Bangladesh ended their innings at 188 with a loss of 9 wickets after 37 overs.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first in the hot and humid batting conditions. ย At 30 overs before the rain Bangladesh was at 153 at the loss of 5 wickets. This is Englandโ€™s first warm-up match as heavy rains in Guwahati washed out the match against India which was to be played on the 30th of September.

After the rains cleared, the warm-up fixture between Bangladesh and England was reduced to 37 overs per side.

Reece Topley provided England with a strong start as he clinched two crucial wickets of the top-order batters, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das. Mark Wood dismissed Tanzim for 45 runs and Wiley took a very crucial wicket of Miraz at 74 runs. Spinner Adil Rashid took two wickets of Mushfiqur for 8 runs and Mahmudullah at 18 runs.

Team England led by Jos Buttler will look to win their last game before the start of the marquee tournament when they take on 2019 World Cup finalists New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5. ย England had defeated New Zealand in the last match 3-1 at home after losing the first match.

However, this is the second warm-up match for Bangladesh after winning against Sri Lanka on 29 September by 7 wickets and will try their best to show their strength by beating the defending champions ย to send the message to the world.ย ย
