A mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) passenger train en route from Jharsuguda to Sambalpur in Odisha derailed on Wednesday evening near Sarala after a cattle came on the track suddenly. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Quoting an official source, a CNN-News18 report stated that four wheels of a coach of Jharsuguda-Sambalpur passenger special train jumped the tracks on the Sarla-Sambalpur section after a cattle suddenly entered the track at about 6.25 pm. The stray animal was killed in the accident.

“No injury or casualties were reported and the estimated time of restoration is two hours,” a railway official said.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sambalpur Vineet Kumar and his team reached the spot and restoration work is underway.
An accident relief train consisting of relief materials for track restoration also reached the site of the accident along with medical equipment. The track was restored and declared fit for train movement with a low speed of 30 km per hour at 8.35 pm, an official said.
