Demand for recounting in azamgarh
On Tuesday, there was a ruckus in the Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh over the recounting. During this, police and public came face to face. The people who were traveling around, attacked the police and started throwing stones. Light force was also used by the police in the rescue. During this period arson was also carried out by miscreants. In the same attack many police personnel were injured and many vehicles were also damaged by the miscreants. Not only this, these miscreants did not even spared the Superintendent of Police car.
According to the information, Nandlal Chauhan was declared victorious by 1190 votes after counting on Dharwara District Panchayat OBC seat of Jahanaganj block of Azamgarh 1 day earlier. However, Kanhaiya Kumar Rao, who was second in the meantime, objected to the calculation of his agents claiming to win by 190 votes and demanded recounting. Yesterday election officials somehow returned both sides.
Supporters demand re-calculation
After this, once again Kanhaiya Kumar and some of his supporters reached Jahanaganj block and started demanding recounting. After which the concerned officer informed the CO and SDM. Officers arrived with the police force on the spot and drove away the candidate and his supporters from there.
Seeing the tension rising, the police took Kanhaiya Kumar Rao, a car rider from near Pardesi Mor, into custody. After which there was an uproar. Hundreds of villagers started committing a blockade and blocked the block turn near Godhaura. When the police force reached to exorcise them, the miscreants started throwing stones.
Police used light force
During this time, the police used mild force in its defense. Azamgarh-Ghazipur road was blocked due to the incident. After about 2 hours, the police somehow managed to control the situation. A heavy police force has been deployed on the spot.
Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Singh says that Kanhaiya was making a ruckus about his supporters, including women, where the people in question were carrying bricks and some people were also carrying brownies, who had stoned the police with stones. In the attack, the glass of several vehicles were broken, even the glass of the police captain’s car was broken, the Superintendent of Police said that along with Kanhaiya and some of his supporters, women have also been taken into custody in this case. A few vehicles have been found on the spot, whose number will be used to find the owner of the vehicle.
