Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 12 runs in the 9th match of the Indian Premier League 2024. Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 185 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi could score only 173 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Rishabh Pant played his 100th match for the franchise. On this occasion, he received a special jersey from the team. At the same time, in the second innings, Delhi coach Ponting argued with the umpire regarding the impact player rule, due to which the game was stopped twice. At the same time, Dhruv Jurel got clean bowled while playing a scoop shot. Top moments…

1.Pant got special jersey
Rishabh Pant became the first player to play 100 matches for Delhi Capitals. Before the match, he was given a special jersey by his teammates. Along with Pant's name, 100 was written on the jersey.

Pant made his IPL debut in 2016. In the same year he led India in the U19 World Cup. Except for his first season, he has scored more than 300 runs every year. No other Delhi batsman has scored more runs or hit more sixes (129) than Pant.

2. Pant took review on Kuldeep's request, Butler was out.
During the first innings, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant took a review on the request of Kuldeep Yadav. On the second ball of the 8th over, Kuldeep bowled the ball near the line of leg stump. Rajasthan's opening batsman tried to reverse-sweep it but missed and the ball hit his pad. Even after Kuldeep Yadav appealed for LBW, the umpire gave Buttler not out.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was not in favor of taking DRS. However, Kuldeep was confident enough and forced the captain to take DRS. When ball tracking was seen, Buttler was found LBW out and the umpire had to change his decision.

Rajasthan Royals' middle order batsman Dhruv Jurel got bowled while playing a scoop shot. His wicket fell in the 18th over where Enrique Nortya bowled him. Jurel tried to play the scoop on the second ball of the over, but he went too far towards the off side and Nortya bowled him easily by throwing the ball on the stump. Jurel could score only 20 runs.

4. Ponting argued with the umpire over impact players, game stopped twice
After the innings break, Rajasthan Royals brought fast bowler Nadre Berger on the field as an impact player during the innings. Earlier, during the batting, Rajasthan had fielded only 3 foreign players (Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult and Jos Buttler). Burger Batter came in place of Hetmyer. Foreigners can be used as impact players in IPL matches only when the team plays with 3 foreign players.

However, the issue arose when Rovman Powell took to the ground for Rajasthan to field. Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting alleged that this will make the West Indies player the fifth foreign player to play in a single match for Rajasthan.

Soon an argument broke out between the umpire and the players and umpire Nitin Menon joined the conversation with Warner and Buttler, while Ponting expressed his complaints to the fourth umpire. Eventually, Powell was allowed to take the field, even though Ponting was angry in the dugout.

After this the game stopped again after just 2 balls. The fourth umpire took the team sheet and explained to Ponting that the Royals had replaced one foreigner with another. Hetmyer is in the dugout. Which means they still have only four foreign players on the field and Powell has come as a substitute fielder. He will do nothing except fielding.

The ball hit the outer edge of Warner's bat and went backwards. Sandeep Sharma, who was fielding at short third man, took a quick catch. Sandeep's reaction time during the catch was 0.94 seconds.

Sandeep Sharma could not take a single wicket in 4 overs. However, he contributed in the catch.
