Portugal’s centre-right party narrowly wins early election but lacks majority. Socialists lose ground in near-complete official results
Portugalโs main centre-right party narrowly defeated the incumbent Socialists in an early general election but fell well short of a majority, near-complete official results showed early Monday.
With just four seats left to assign in Portugalโs 230-seat parliament, the Democratic Alliance had won 29.49 percent of the vote in Sundayโs poll, against 28.66 percent for the Socialists, in power since 2015.
