The festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid), will be celebrated on June 17. Preparations are being completed for the Bakrid Namaaz to be held on Monday. Like Eid, Namaaz will not be offered on the streets in the city and countryside on Bakrid. In such a situation, Namaaz will be offered in mosques, madrasas, dargahs and other places of worship.

Jamaat at Chowk Jama Masjid at 7 and 8 pm
The first jamaat will be at 7 am and the second jamaat will be at 8 am in the Jama Masjid. Tight security arrangements have been made in view of Bakrid. Police, PAC and RAF have been deployed especially in the mixed population areas of the old city. The Imams of Chowk Jama Masjid and all the mosques including the city Qazi have appealed to the people not to offer namaz on the streets. Go to the mosque on time and offer the sacrifice after offering the namaz.

Also, Maulanas, Aalims, Pesh Imams, Mosque Committees and other organizations have requested that the sacrifice should be done in homes or around the house. Do not sacrifice on the road or public place. Do not post photos or videos of the sacrifice on social media. Prayagraj Commissionerate Police has also warned everyone to celebrate the festival of sacrifice with brotherhood. Do not sacrifice at others’ doors nor throw animal remains here and there.

Thousands of animals will be slaughtered
In Prayagraj, the festival of sacrifice is celebrated with devotion and respect. Thousands of animals are sacrificed after the Bakrid Namaaz. In such a situation, special precautions are taken in the Sangam city so that mutual brotherhood is maintained. In view of the Namaaz and sacrifice, the police-administration intensified their preparations from Sunday itself. Different times have been fixed for Namaaz in every place of worship in the city. Since the sacrifice is to be done after the Namaaz, in most mosques, the time has been kept from six in the morning to nine-thirty.

Keeping in mind the crowd of Namazis, arrangements have been made for two Jamaats in all the mosques. Apart from this, special Namaaz of Bakrid will be offered in many guest houses including madrasas, dargahs. Along with the police, Umamas have been specifically instructed not to sacrifice any banned animal. An appeal has been made not to sacrifice at a place where neighbors or visitors face problems. There was a hustle and bustle in Muslim areas till late night due to the preparations of Bakrid. People were seen shopping in the main markets of the city.

Women wearing burqas were busy shopping for Bakrid in markets like Kareli, Khuldabad, Nurullah Road, Atala, Rasoolpur, Bahadurganj, Akbarpur, Chakia, Shahganj, Chowk, Roshanbagh, Katra, Kotha Parcha etc. People gathered till midnight to buy sacrificial animals in the goat market of Kareli, Shahganj, Nakhaskohna, Atala, Nurullah Road Sabzi Mandi, Sevai Mandi, Rani Mandi, Hatia. People were seen buying vermicelli, khoya, milk, curd till late night.

Impact of inflation on goat prices
This time the effect of inflation is clearly visible on Bakrid. Common city dwellers are upset with the high price of goats. Every time on Bakrid the price of goats skyrockets but this time the situation is different. The price of common goats is not less than 15 thousand rupees. Any goat suitable for sacrifice is not less than 15 to 20 thousand rupees. The price of goats starts from 20 thousand and reaches two lakhs. Due to inflation, this time the demand for Rajasthani Barbare goats is high.

Along with this, consignments of Puranchali goats are also reaching the city every day. Goat rearing enthusiasts remain in the news during this festival. Kareli resident Mo. Meeran rears goats with great love. This time the price of his goat has gone up to 1.5 lakh rupees. He has named his goat Raja. Meeram raises Raja like horses. Along with this, the price of a goat of Gujri breed from Rajasthan has been set at 90 thousand rupees. Kareli resident old man Syed Ali says that the price is being quoted but he will get the sacrifice done himself.

People came to Atala, Rasoolpur, Chakia, Kesaria, Bamrauli etc. areas to deposit money to get the share of big animals. However, due to the closure of the slaughter house, the sacrifice of big animals will be less. Arrangements have been made for this at some places.
