Prithvi Shaw is currently the tournament’s top run-scorer in the One-Day Cup 2023 with 429 runs in four matches at an impressive average of 143.

Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI-Cup Competition 2023 in England. Shaw plays for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup competition. He has injured his knee while fielding in a match played against Durham on Sunday.

Northamptonshire said in a statement: “The results of the scan have shown that the injury is very serious.” Shaw is currently being monitored by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team and is scheduled to meet a specialist in London on Friday.

Record innings of 244 runs was played against Somerset
Shaw, 23, scored an innings of 244 off 153 balls against Somerset on Wednesday (August 9). Shaw set the record for the highest individual score in the history of this tournament. He went past Ollie Robinson’s 206 (for Kent in 2022).

With this, Shaw became the sixth batsman to top score in a 50-over match i.e. List A match. The first name in this list is Narayan Jagadishan of Tamil Nadu, who scored an inning of 277 against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Shaw tournament top scorer
Right-handed batsman Shaw is currently the tournament’s top run-scorer in the One-Day Cup 2023 with 429 runs in four matches at an impressive average of 143. He has two centuries in four innings, including 244 off 153 balls against Somerset. He scored 125*, 26 and 34 in his other three innings.

Shaw did not get a chance in Team India from 2021
Prithvi Shaw, who won India the Under-19 World Cup under his captaincy in 2018, also made his international debut in 2018 itself. He scored a century in his debut test itself, but at the international level his technique looked weak in front of the bowlers. He played the last international match against Sri Lanka in July 2021 as ODI and since then he could not play any match for India.

Shaw was included in the squad for the T20 series against New Zealand this year, but was not made a part of the playing-11 in the presence of Shubman Gill and Rituraj Gaikwad.
