Prithvi Shaw, who is out of the Indian Test team, is batting strongly in limited overs cricket. He scored 227 runs in 152 balls against Puducherry on Thursday in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Suryakumar Yadav scored 133 off 58 balls. On the basis of stormy innings of these two batsmen, Mumbai scored 457 runs losing four wickets in 50 overs.
This is the fourth highest in the world in List A cricket and the second highest score by an Indian team. Shaw played an unbeaten innings of 105 runs against Delhi in the same tournament four days ago.
The seventh Indian to score a double century in List A
Prithvi Shaw has become the seventh Indian batsman to score a double century in List A cricket. Before him Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal have already achieved this feat. Sachin, Sehwag and Rohit Sharma have done this feat in International One Day Match.
Other batsmen have scored double centuries in non-International List A matches. Prithvi Shaw’s innings is the third largest innings by an Indian batsman in List A. Rohit Sharma (264) and Shikhar Dhawan (248) have played big innings.
Vijay Hazare Trophy’s biggest innings and greatest team score
Prithvi Shaw’s innings is the biggest innings by a batsman in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The previous record was named after Sanju Samson. Sanju played an unbeaten 212-run knock against Goa in 2019 while playing for Kerala. Also, Mumbai’s score is the biggest score of this tournament. The previous record was in the name of Jharkhand. Jharkhand scored 422/9 against Madhya Pradesh in Indore five days ago.
