Prithvi Shaw, who is out of the Indian Test team, is batting strongly in limited overs cricket. He scored 227 runs in 152 balls against Puducherry on Thursday in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Suryakumar Yadav scored 133 off 58 balls. On the basis of stormy innings of these two batsmen, Mumbai scored 457 runs losing four wickets in 50 overs.

This is the fourth highest in the world in List A cricket and the second highest score by an Indian team. Shaw played an unbeaten innings of 105 runs against Delhi in the same tournament four days ago.

The seventh Indian to score a double century in List A
Prithvi Shaw has become the seventh Indian batsman to score a double century in List A cricket. Before him Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal have already achieved this feat. Sachin, Sehwag and Rohit Sharma have done this feat in International One Day Match.

Other batsmen have scored double centuries in non-International List A matches. Prithvi Shaw’s innings is the third largest innings by an Indian batsman in List A. Rohit Sharma (264) and Shikhar Dhawan (248) have played big innings.

Vijay Hazare Trophy’s biggest innings and greatest team score
Prithvi Shaw’s innings is the biggest innings by a batsman in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The previous record was named after Sanju Samson. Sanju played an unbeaten 212-run knock against Goa in 2019 while playing for Kerala. Also, Mumbai’s score is the biggest score of this tournament. The previous record was in the name of Jharkhand. Jharkhand scored 422/9 against Madhya Pradesh in Indore five days ago.

Shaw captaining the senior team for the first time
Mumbai rested Shreyas Iyer for this match. He was replaced by Prithvi. Shaw, captaining the senior team for the first time, faced 152 balls and hit 31 fours and five sixes. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav scored 22 fours and four sixes in his 58-ball innings. Prithvi and Suryakumar added 201 runs in the third wicket partnership.

Highest score for Surrey
The record for the largest team total in List A cricket is for England’s county team Surrey. Surrey have scored 496/4 in 2007 over against Gloucestershire. The Indian team has the highest score of 458/4. India A scored this against Leicestershire in 2018. In that match, Prithvi Shaw scored 132 runs while playing a century. In this way, Mumbai’s team is just one run behind the biggest Indian score in List A cricket.
