The police have zeroed in on a man reportedly being involved in the rape of a six-year-old girl at Unnikulam in the district. Police sources said the arrest of the man could be recorded on Saturday as he had not left the district.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday when the girl’s parents, both migrant labourers, were away for work. The girl was left at home with her two younger siblings.
Though a migrant labourer in the area was initially suspected of having involvement in the incident, the Balussery police on Friday ruled out the possibility.
The injured girl was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital on Wednesday evening. Hospital sources said her condition was improving.
