From MP topper Ankita Daily newspaper Ankita talked to Ankita about her journey from the beginning till now. Know from her how her journey to becoming a Deputy Collector was…

The basics became strong from school itself

I am Ankita Patkar, resident of Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. My father Daulatram Patkar is a post office agent. Mother Chandrakala Patkar has recently retired from the post of assistant teacher. I have 5 siblings. All five of us sisters are in government jobs. My youngest brother is preparing for PSC.

I did my primary education from Career Bright Convent School, Raisen. After this, I gave the exam of Navodaya Vidyalaya Bari. For that, my elder sister Suman Patwa taught and guided me. I cleared the exam. The education in Navodaya Vidyalaya is good.

My basics became very strong from Navodaya Vidyalaya. My concepts about every subject were quite developed. Then I did my graduation in Mathematics Honours and Physics from Institute for Excellence Higher Education (IEHE) Bhopal. That also helped me a lot. Regular classes were held in college, experiments were conducted in the lab. Concepts improved even more from that. Along with that, I got exposure from co-curricular activities.

Preparation done through free coaching provided by the government

After graduation, I came to know that OBC children were being prepared for civil services free of cost through People Girl Association scheme. I enrolled in that scheme and prepared for the exam. CK Sharma Sir and CM Sir taught me there. Then in 2019 I cleared the prelims and mains. I reached the interview, but my result did not come due to OBC being held in 13%. I gave the exam in 2020, but did not clear the prelims.

After this, I tried again in 2021 and started another coaching. Joined the test series, took the content of Mains from there. Then prepared from the notes there as well. This time the result was positive. Last year I was selected as a class three primary teacher. Also, I had recently cleared the exam of Vyapam, Patwari Group-4. In that, I was selected for the post of Assistant Development Extension Officer and I joined duty in March itself.

Family and siblings supported me a lot

My family and my siblings supported me a lot in this entire journey. Wherever I worked, I got their full support. All my teachers also guided me all the time. When I could not clear the exam in 2019-2020, I got demotivated. I got emotional support from my family and teachers. Everyone said, you can do it. I always had faith in my mind, but I did not know that I would be a topper.

The most interesting question- Maths is Vivek’s music, how?

Chandra Shekhar Sir’s board interviewed me. The interview lasted for about 15 minutes. An interesting question was that Maths is Vivek’s music, how is it? He was very happy with my answer. 15 to 20 questions were asked. I have done MSc in Maths, so most of the questions in the interview were asked from this subject. I also had to face some numerical questions. In current affairs, I was asked what India has achieved in the defense sector.

I had told about the achievement of Brahmos missile that we have exported it to Philippines. I have been in NCC, so he asked questions related to that. I have won national award in Scout Guide, on this he asked- what are its other levels. He asked the Scout Guide song. What is Ranger Rover. What is Bunny. I had prepared well during Scout Guide, so I answered the questions easily.

He also asked me a question related to my development expansion officer. What is your development model? I told him that we prepare plans, I gave my answer about implementing the government’s schemes in an innovative way. He also asked political questions. What is a no confidence motion, where is it passed? Who brings it? What is the difference between a finance bill and a money bill? I explained the difference with an article.

MPPSC preparation should be goal oriented

Talking about getting success in MPPSC, there should be goal oriented preparation. Focus should be on syllabus and previous questions. Do not take too much tension about the mains. Prepare by writing point wise. Keep the content very clean. Give examples of where you have taken the answers to the question from.

I got a job during the 2021 Mains, so I started preparing by staying in Raisen. I used to study from 6 to 10 in the morning. I used to take 10 minutes to get ready and go straight to the job. I used to come back from school at 4:30. I used to sit to study at 5 in the evening, which used to go on till 12 in the night. I used to study for 8 to 9 hours during the job. I had 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. I used to revise and prepare new topics in that. I used to study whenever I got time in the office too.
