Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) of London has released the QS World University Rankings 2021. Three Indian institutes IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi are also included in the ranking list released for 200 universities. With a score of 100 out of 100, IISc Bangalore is listed as one of the top research universities in the world. With this, Indian Institute of Science has become the first university in the country to score full 100 marks.
These are the top institutes of the country
IIT-Bombay has become the best higher education institution in India for the fourth consecutive year in the ranking released. IIT-Bombay stood at 177th position, down 5 places from last year. Whereas IIT-Delhi has risen from 193 to 185th rank in the last 12 months. Whereas, IISc Bangalore has moved up from 185th rank to 186th rank in the overall university rankings.
22 Indian Institutes in Top 1,000
There has also been no change in the total number of Indian Institutes placed in the top 1,000 institutes in the world. This time also 22 Indian universities are in the top 1,000. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have dropped out of the top 1,000 list. The institutes have declined from the band of 801-1,000 to 1,001-1,200.
According to Ranking 2021, no other institute has made it to the top 200 since 2017 except IIT-Bombay, IIT-Delhi and IISc Bengaluru. India’s tally in the latest ranking has remained intact for the last 5 years.
Improvement in the ranking of these institutes
According to the latest rankings, seven institutes IIT-Delhi, IIT-Madras, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Hyderabad and Savitribai Phule Pune University have gained in the ranking. At the same time, last year 14 universities had fallen in rank and only four had benefited.
