Question on ’83’: Kabir Khan said – If restrictions increase in the country, we will adopt OTT route for the film

Ranveer Singh starrer ’83’ has been the most awaited film. Which was released in theaters on 24 December. Now director Kabir Khan is contemplating to release this film on OTT. He has talked about this in an interview. Even before the release, the film was offered by the big OTT platform. But Kabir wanted to release it on theaters only. The film has not been able to earn as much as the makers of ’83’ had expected. A week after the release of the film, theaters in Delhi were closed due to rising cases of Kovid.

The film was designed for the big screen
In the interview, Kabir said, “The film was ready with us 18 months back. We wanted people to see it on the big screen because that’s how it was designed. But, at that time it was not possible. We released the film in theatres. Worked hard and waited a long time to do it. But from the day of its release, the Covid cases started increasing in the country. After which the cinema halls of Delhi were also closed.

Kapil Dev consoled
Kabir further said, “This film is based on the life of Kapil Dev. He consoled us and said – when we won the 1983 World Cup, we did not get the money. We got the respect. You did this film for getting the honour. It’s made for you, and you’re getting it. You focus on that.”

If restrictions increase then we will go on OTT
On the question of releasing the film on OTT, Kabir said, “We don’t know whether we will have to close the film from theaters tomorrow, or will be given five to six days’ time. If more restrictions are imposed, we will release the film soon. Will release on OTT. But, I am very happy that people are going to watch in theaters with Prediction.”
