Vaishali Shadangule’s eponymous label, Vaishali S presented its new Fall/Winter 2024 collection, Satori during Paris Haute Couture Week. Hosted in an indoor seating at Solum Paris, the show was taken over by wearable art weaving a magical story of nature.
Radhika Apte’s multi-layered and multi-dimensional ensemble was a piece of art. Radhika Apte showcased the look with panache. The show which was presented in partnership with Tanishq saw Radhika Apte adorn an opulent piece of diamond jewellery from the brand
Describing the showstopper ensemble, which took over two months of hard work to make, Vaishali Shadangule says, “The ensemble she was wearing is the most emblematic in terms of the multilayer and multi dimensional approach. I must say it was also the most demanding in terms of hand work. It has taken over two months of precise work by six different people followed by meticulous assembling and draping. I really hope people can capture the intensity, depth, and multilayer facets it carries.”
When asked why she felt Radhika was perfect for the show, Vaishali says, “I always go by instinct and chemistry towards my work. Difficult to give specific reasons around it, rather it just felt perfect.”
The show commenced with a contemporary dance performance with the artistes dressed in fluid silhouettes in rich and pure shades of burgundy and ivory. Creating a number of ‘ahah’ moments throughout the showcase, the runway came alive through the creative drapings and myriad colour scheme. The colour scheme was muted and serene, featuring shades like pure white, soft beige, and light grey, symbolising purity and clarity. Accents of deep indigo, rich burgundy, and gold were used to signify enlightenment and spiritual richness. Each draping paid homage to traditional Indian garments and values while maintaining a contemporary edge.
Each design that stepped out on the runway evoked a sense of effortless grace and fluidity. Clean and streamlined silhouettes were enhanced with intricate handwork and subtle embellishments through patterns inspired by the energy of nature. Each garment displayed on the runway was accentuated with elegant jewellery pieces from Tanishq.
Vaishali S couture designs have been a seamless journey of self discovery, from the basic representations of nature, and her energy to deeper and more adventurous discoveries. With Satori, Vaishali realised that all she was looking for in reality was already inside her and she just needed to get free from all illusions.
