Rajamouli’s RRR song Natu-Natu got Oscar: record of giving 100% hit films, film Magadheera ran in theaters for 1000 days

The song Natu-Natu from the film RRR, directed by Rajamouli, received the award in the Best Original Song category. Rajamouli has left behind all the directors of India in terms of giving hit films. Rajamouli started his career by directing television shows, after which today he has given highest grossing films like Magadheera, Eega, Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali: The Conclusion. In a career spanning 22 years, he has directed 12 films and all the films have been hits.

Let’s know how was Rajamouli’s journey from TV to becoming India’s top director-

Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad wrote more than 20 blockbuster films.
SS Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad is an Indian screenwriter and director who has written the story of many Hindi, Tamil, Telugu language films. Since 1988, Vijayendra Prasad has written more than 20 blockbuster films including Baahubali series, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Manikarnika, Thalaivi, Magadheera and RRR.

Stepped into direction from television shows
Rajamouli started his career as an assistant director. His talent got him the opportunity to direct a Telugu TV show. Initially, Rajamouli directed the Telugu drama series Shanti Nivasan with Raghavendra Rao.

The first film earned 12 crores in 2001
Rajamouli entered the Telugu film industry in the year 2001. The first film made under his direction was Student No 1, in which Junior NTR was the lead hero. Made in a budget of 1.80 crores, the film earned 12.09 crores. This film was produced by Raghavendra Rao. Directed by Rajamouli, this film was Junior NTR’s first superhit film. Two years later, Rajamouli and Jr. NTR joined hands for Simhadri (2003). This film also proved to be a big hit.

In a gap of two years, Rajamouli started preparations for his first mythological film with his favorite hero Malayalam star Mohanlal, however, due to some reasons, the film could never be made.

The director’s third film was Sai (2004), starring Nitin and Genelia D’Souza in the lead roles. This was the first time in the history of Tollywood that a film was made on a rugby film. Made in a budget of 8 crores, this film was the most expensive film of Rajamouli’s career, which did not come out of theaters for a year. The film did a business of 13 crores. The film was awarded 4 Nandi Awards.

The film Magadheera ran in theaters for a thousand days.
The 2006 film Vikramarkudu proved to be the turning point of Rajamouli’s career. Ravi Teja starrer this film was remade in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi language (Rowdy Rathod).

The 2009 film Magadheera gave Rajamouli recognition across the country apart from the South industry. Kajal Aggarwal, Ramcharan starrer This film was produced in a huge budget of 35 crores, which did a box office collection of 150 crores. This film was engaged in theaters for 1000 days, which broke the record of the longest running film Chandramukhi. It became South’s biggest hit film, which won two National Awards, 6 Filmfare and 9 Nandi Awards. This is the same film from which lead actors Ramcharan and Kajal Aggarwal got stardom. Magadheera brought the trend of period drama and socio-fantasy in the South Industry.

After this Rajamouli directed Maryada Ramanna (Hindi remake Son of Sardaar), Eega (Makkhi). Maryada Ramanna collected 60 crores and Eega collected 130 crores.

Bahubali, which created history in the year 2015
SS Rajamouli gave the world’s second highest grossing Indian film in the year 2015, named Baahubali. This film gave Rajamouli worldwide recognition.

The film earned Rs 75 crore worldwide on the very first day of its release. Which was the biggest opening in the history of Indian cinema. Later, the record of this film was broken by 2016’s Kabali by collecting 82 crores. It was the first South film to earn more than 300 crores, out of which 263 was just a single day collection. Since then, the trend of Pan India films started in India. The film did a worldwide box office of 650 crores, while its sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017) created a new record by earning 1800 crores.

It is the biggest hit in the history of South Cinema and the second highest grossing film in the history of Indian cinema after Dangal.

Rajamouli’s special trick for films
Rajamouli adds special weapons to each of his films to make them perfect. This series has been going on for the last several years. In every film of Rajamouli, it has become common to see a new type of weapon in the hands of the lead actor.

Simhadri
Firstly, Rajamouli specially designed a double edged ax for the lead actor Junior NTR in the film Simhadri. This series started after the popularity of this film.

Chhatrapati
In Rajamouli’s Chhatrapati, a new weapon like an ax was seen in the hands of Prabhas.

Vikramarkudu
Ravi Teja used sharp edged weapons in this film. This weapon was so scary to see that it was evident to have goosebumps in the fighting scene.

Magadhira

Divorced Rama made his partner
Rajamouli married Rama in the year 2001. Rama was older than the director and was already married and the mother of a child. When Rama got divorced in the year 2002, Rajamouli supported her a lot. Gradually both started loving each other and one day Rajamouli proposed marriage to them. Rama had a son from his first marriage and Rajamouli has also adopted a daughter after marriage.

Wife is the costume designer of Rajamouli’s films
During the shooting of a film, Rajamouli was not satisfied with his costume design. When Rama saw his trouble, she decided to design Rajamouli herself. During an interview, Rama has said that she never wanted to be a designer, but she can read Rajamouli’s mind, so she designs for him.
