The body of a specially-abled woman was found hanging from a tree in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district after she was allegedly killed by a man for refusing to marry him, police said on Monday. The incident occurred on Saturday after the woman’s body was found in a forested area near Khuntgarh village in Pratapgarh’s Devgarh area.
The accused, identified as one Kuldeep Gehlot, has been arrested in connection with the case, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar said.
As per the SP, the deceased’s maternal uncle, Bhanwarlal, on Friday approached the Dhamotar police station with the complaint that his specially-abled niece had gone somewhere without informing anyone at home.
Meanwhile, the body of a girl was found hanging from a tree the next day.
Bhanwarlal identified it as that of his niece, the SP said,
Following this, the police formed a special team with the technical support of the cyber cell. After after initial interrogation, police arrested Kuldeep Gehlot.
During the probe, police found that the accused took the woman to the forest area and pressured her to get married to him.
But she refused, following which they had a fight and Gehlot allegedly strangulated her to death and hanged the body on a tree with the help of her scarf.
