Got confidence after talking to Dravid-Rohit
Rajat said, 'I have played with many players in domestic cricket and India-A. Was part of the squad in the last series also, since then I have been talking with Rahul sir (Dravid). Was not able to talk to Rohit Bhai (Sharma) that much. But this time I talked to him while batting in the nets. When he shared his experience, I gained some confidence.

My dream is to play test
Rajat said, 'Injury occurred after IPL in 2022. The time of injury is very difficult for a player. Couldn't bring back the recovery time, so accepted it. I was trying to live in that moment.
It was difficult to make a comeback after the injury but I was very happy to be included in the Team India squad due to my performance. My dream is to play Test for Team India. I was playing a match for India A, when I came to know that I have been selected in the Test team. I felt very happy that what I had planned came true.
prefer attacking batting
Rajat said, 'I like attacking batting and I bat like this in domestic cricket also. I prepared like this from the beginning and now it is working for me. I look at the strength of the bowlers of the opposite team, at what length they bowl mostly.
I study the field placement of bowlers. I have seen Rohit bhai attacking the bowlers and have tried to incorporate it in my game as well. I am trying to analyze all the things and adapt them to my game.

I like watching Virat Bhai's batting.
Rajat said, 'Whenever Virat Bhai bats in the nets, I watch him, I like watching his batting. His footwork and body movement are excellent. Trying to add those things to my game as well. Till now I have not been able to bring that footwork into my game but the efforts are on. In one word, I am very excited.
Joined the squad in place of Virat Kohli
Rajat Patidar is a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in IPL. He made his debut under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. He was also included in the Test squad as a replacement for Virat Kohli. Virat is not part of the team for the first 2 tests due to family reasons.

Came into limelight by scoring a century in IPL
Rajat Patidar made his IPL debut from RCB in 2021. In the first season he could play only 4 matches but in the 2022 season he got to play 8 matches. He took the team to Qualifier-2 by scoring a century against Lucknow Supergiants in the eliminator match. His name came into discussion after this century.
Injured after IPL
Rajat Patidar got injured after the breakthrough IPL season. He got a place in Team India's squad but due to injury he could not debut. He went to Germany for treatment and missed the 2023 IPL and domestic cricket season until his recovery.
After recovery, Rajat made a comeback and performed well in domestic cricket. From where he got a place in the India A squad, in December itself he was made a part of the ODI team in South Africa. Where he made his debut in the third ODI and played an inning of 22 runs in just 16 balls.
Scored a century against England Lions
After his ODI debut, Rajat again got a place in the India A squad. He scored centuries in both the initial unofficial tests against England Lions. Only after his century in the second unofficial test, he was included in Team India in place of Virat.
Scored 12 centuries in first class cricket
30 year old Rajat plays domestic cricket from Madhya Pradesh and is a resident of Indore. He has scored 4000 runs in 55 first class matches at an average of around 46. He was the top scorer in the Madhya Pradesh team that became Ranji champion in 2021-22. He scored 658 runs in 9 innings at an average of 82. The team became champion by defeating a big team like Mumbai.
Rajat can debut in the second test
Team India will play in the second test along with Virat without Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer could not score fifty in the last 11 Test innings. Apart from Rajat, only Sarfaraz Khan is included in the squad. In such a situation, it is confirmed that one of these two will play in place of Rahul. England ahead 1-0 in the series
England won the first match of the 5-Test series by 28 runs. Hyderabad team is leading 1-0 in the series after winning the test. The second Test will be played in Visakhapatnam from 2 February. The third Test will start from February 15 in Saurashtra.
