Rajinikanth’s recent release Annaatthe has earned more than 200 crores worldwide. Actor Rajinikanth, 70, has now revealed through a voice note that he wept after hearing the script of Annaatthe. Rajinikanth told that when the film’s director Shiva had brought the script to him, he had asked for two and a half hours’ time and three bottles of water.

Wanted to work after watching Vishwasam
Annaatthe is directed by Siva. This was her first work with Rajinikanth. A few years back, Rajinikanth’s Petta was released with Siva’s Vishwasam, starring Ajith in the lead. It was only after watching Vishwasam that Rajinikanth showed interest in working with Siva.

Rajini said- “Petta showed me in a stylish avatar, and it was released with Vishwasam. Both the films were super hit at the box office. The makers of Vishwasam organized a special screening for me. I liked the film till the interval, but still it amazed me how it turned out to be a huge success, when it was the climax I understood that the film was a success and I started clapping.”

Shiva gave the idea
After the screening, Rajini met Shiva and he said that it is easy to make a hit film with Rajini. Rajni recalls- “It shocked me, because no one had told me this before. They said that I should do a film based on the story and it should be set in a village.”

Annaatthe shows brother-sister relationship
Rajinikanth asked Shiva to come up with a village based script in 15 days. In 12 days, he reached with the script. By the end of the script, Rajinikanth started crying and he hugged Shiva. In Annaatthe, Rajinikanth plays the role of a village headman. The story focuses on his relationship with his younger sister, played by Keerthy Suresh. Even though the film was heavily criticized for its sweet brother-sister relationship scenes, the film managed to do well at the box-office.
