Filmmaker Rohit Shetty announced his first biopic film. It is based on the life of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. Rakesh is the same police officer who has solved high profile cases like 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts and 26/11 Mumbai attacks. It was Rakesh who arrested Sanjay Dutt from the airport. Actually the weapons used in the Mumbai attack were kept at Sanjay Dutt’s house.
Sameer took Sanjay’s name
Rakesh got the command of 1993 bomb blast case. He caught three people in this conspiracy, their names were Badshah Khan, Hanif and Sameer. When Rakesh was interrogating them, he took the name of Sanjay Dutt. Rakesh wrote in his book, in the middle of the interrogation Sameer said that sir, do you not catch big people? I asked him who are the big guys, he said Sanju Baba Sanjay Dutt Hero.
Sanjay Dutt’s arrest
Sanjay was unaware of this investigation, he returned to Mumbai from Mauritius after finishing the shooting of his film. As soon as Sanjay’s flight landed, Rakesh arrested him from the runway itself. He was arrested and taken straight for questioning. However, on the way from the airport to the jail, none of the policemen spoke to Sanjay. Because Rakesh had given strict instructions to the people of his team not to talk. When Rakesh Maria asked Sanjay that will you tell your story yourself or should I tell? Replying to this, Sanjay Dutt said, Sir, I have not done anything. However, why did Sanjay keep the weapons in his house and from where did he get them, he told everything to Rakesh.
Sanjay found guilty
Sanjay Dutt was proved guilty of possessing illegal weapons in the Mumbai blasts and was punished. In this case, seven members of the Memon family were convicted in the case. Of these, Tiger Memon is still absconding. While Yakub Memon was hanged in 2015. Rakesh Maria got the police medal for solving this case.
