The final match of Ranji Trophy 2023-24 is being played between 41-time champion Mumbai and two-time winning team Vidarbha. By the end of the day's play, Vidarbha had scored 31 runs at the loss of three wickets in the first innings. Atharva Tayde returned unbeaten on 21 and Aditya Thackeray returned unbeaten on 0.

On Sunday, the first day of the final at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Vidarbha team won the toss and chose fielding. Batting first, Mumbai team was reduced to 224 runs. Shardul Thakur played an inning of 75 runs in the first innings for Mumbai. Both Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer failed. Yash Thakur and Harsh Dubey took 3 wickets each for Vidarbha.

Vidarbha suffered three initial setbacks
Vidarbha got its first blow in the form of Dhruv Shore. Dhruv was out without opening the account. The team's second wicket fell at the score of 20 runs. Aman Mokhade was out after scoring 8 runs. Karun Nair also could not open the account. So far, Dhawal Kulkarni has got two wickets and Shardul Thakur has got one wicket for Mumbai.

Shardul's half-century, Rahane-Iyer failed
Shardul Thakur performed brilliantly in the first innings for Mumbai. Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer both failed. Shardul played an inning of 75 runs. During this, he hit eight fours and three sixes. Apart from him, Prithvi Shaw scored 46 runs. Bhupen Lalwani contributed 37 runs. Apart from these three players, no one else could play a big innings. Rahane and Iyer scored 7-7 runs. Yash Thakur and Harsh Dubey took 3-3 wickets for Vidarbha. Umesh Yadav took two wickets. Aditya Thackeray also got one wicket.
