Rohit Sharma who is leading the Indian side did not have the finest start to the World Cup as he was dismissed for a duck in the first fixture against Australia. But he kept that behind him as he showed intent against Afghanistan and took the responsibility of scoring runs at a quick pace as India was looking to chase down the target.
He brought his century in just 64 balls making it the fastest century scored by an Indian batter in the World Cup. The previous record is held by his fellow teammate, Virat Kohli who had scored a century in just 83 deliveries against Bangladesh during India’s World Cup-winning campaign in 2011. Rohit was eventually dismissed for 131 runs off just 84 deliveries by Rashid Khan giving India all but the victory against Afghanistan.
