In Noida, construction of in-situ sewerage treatment plant has been made mandatory in group housing societies having an area of more than 20,000 square meters. If this plant is not built in any society. This will be considered a violation of NGT rules. A fine of up to Rs 20 lakh will be imposed on the society. This rule has been implemented in the 207th board meeting of Noida.
Locations where treatment plants are operational. Their sampling will be done every month. If the sample fails, a fine of Rs 10 lakh will be imposed on them. These rules have been passed by the board. Noida has about 95 group housing societies of 20 thousand square meters or more. Out of this, in-situ sewerage treatment plants are running in about 77. Provision of in situ STP in 11 group housing is not there in OC and CC. All these are connected to Noida’s Central STP.

Apart from this, notices have been issued in six group housing societies including Amra Pali Futech Shelters Sector-75, Skytech Sector-76 for not having STPs. At present, due to the enactment of this rule, fine will be imposed on those societies which do not have in-situ treatment plants.
Authority officials said that during inspection it was found that STP is not functional in many societies. Preparations are being made to serve the notice to them. All these will have to set up an in situ treatment plant in a month. It has to be activated. Failure to do so will result in a fine of Rs 20 lakh and a fine of Rs 5 lakh per month.
