There is news on social media about sighting of leopard in village Bhagwanpur Dhimri on the border of Izzatnagar and Bithri Chainpur police station area in Bareilly. In different villages of this area including Rajau Paraspur, people were talking about the sighting of leopard-like wildlife for the last 2 days. Where a video of a leopard has also been posted on X.
On receiving information about the matter, DFO Deeksha Bhandari sent the Forest Department team to the spot. While the team shared the video in the forest, no one confirmed the sighting of the leopard. Nor were any claw marks found. No animal was found in this condition which was eaten by the leopard.
Jackal attacks in the countryside
Jackal attacks are taking place in the villages of Faridpur, Baheri, Fatehganj East, Shahi and Amla of Bareilly. People have been informing the forest department for the last 20 days, calling them wolves. Now the news of leopard sighting spread panic. The police and forest department teams combed but were successful.
DFO’s statement
DFO Deeksha Bhandari said that an alleged photo video is going viral on social media. It is being verified. No person has reported seeing a leopard in Bareilly. The forest department team did not find such marks in the forest of the village where they were told that they were visible. Still the team is alert.
