Dev Anand died in December, 2011 in the United Kingdom. Zeenat Aman also shared photos with late actor
Late actor Dev Anand is celebrating his 100th birthday. Many veteran actors including Saira Banu are sharing old photos and incidents remembering him. Well, on Tuesday she took to her social handle and shared a nostalgic post on late actor Dev Anand’s 100th birthday. The veteran actress shared a series of photo and videos along with a long caption. She also revealed that the late actor offered her a role in one of his most famous films Guide.
In the photo, we can see Saira Banu posing with Dev Anand. While in other two videos she shared songs. “Happy 100th Birthday ! In the 1955 film “C.I.D” Dev Saab wanted to cast my mother Naseemji but at that time Sultan bhai and I were schooling in London and she had to be there with us, so she declined. Shakilaji did the same role. A similar thing happened in the 1958 film “KAALA PAANI” where Naseemji’s role was then played by Nalini Jaywant. Sahib had described her as the “Greatest Actress” he ever worked with”, her caption reads.

One of the fans wrote, “If your mother would be there the movie would be more amazing..but CID Is a masterpiece no doubt thanks for sharing such amazing stories and photos on dev sabh’s birthday love you mam.” Another fan wrote, “Wonderful stories. Also got to hear 2 uncommon Rafi numbers. Ma’am please can you narrate some anecdotes about Rafi sahab too.”
Earlier in the day, Zeenat Aman also shared the photos with Dev Anand and wrote, ““Celebrating 100 years of Dev saab. Stylish, suave and prolific, he was a dynamo beyond compare. And what generosity of talent! He sparked careers (mine included), brought together creative heads, and made films that resonated across generations. It gladdens my heart to see his legacy honoured an entire century since his birth. In recent days, I’ve been overwhelmed with requests for comments about him but there is little to add to what I’ve already said. Though, I posted a three-part series about him just a few weeks ago, I can’t resist the nostalgia of these two frames from our earliest films together. They will be instantly recognisable to my older followers, but I’m not so sure about you younger lot!”
Dev Anand is known for movies like Guide, Jewel Thief, and Manzil among others. He died in December, 2011 in the United Kingdom.
