Samantha Ruth Prabhu said that it is fun to watch women take control in narratives.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the release of Citadel: Honey Bunny, in which she stars opposite Varun Dhawan. Samantha and Varun’s show will be an action-packed spy thriller, directed by Raj and DK. In a recent chat, Samantha lauded her colleagues Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma and Kangana Ranaut for paving the way for women in the action genre.
Samantha told PTI, “I’m glad I discovered a new facet or genre that gets me excited, which is action. Many actresses are indulging or diving into action like Alia is doing action, Deepika and Katrina have always done action, Disha, and Kiara are doing it now, and Kangana has done action. Anushka has done action. It is amazing for women to take control.”
She also mentioned that always wanted to take up a role similar to James Bond’s character. “Who doesn’t want to do a lot of cool action and play a spy, I think that’s on every actor’s dream list, James Bond is the ultimate role to play, so that’s just a given. As actors, we are very excited about it. Doing action was very exhilarating,” she said.
Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian adaptation within the Citadel Universe, focusing on Honey and Bunny’s mission to protect their daughter, Nadia. Alongside Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the series stars Sikandar Kher, Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majumdar.
Directed by Raj & DK, with development by Sita R. Menon, this spy thriller is a joint production by D2R Films and Amazon MGM Studios. The series is executively produced by The Russo Brothers’ AGBO along with Raj & DK. Citadel: Honey Bunny will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 7.
The trailer of ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ created quite a buzz when it was released, and left fans intrigued about the release. Speaking with PTI, Varun Dhawan said, “Eventually, it is up to the audience. Everyone has put their best foot forward. I’m hoping this will push Indian cinema forward. I know this is going to do well, and I’m feeling good about this.” The anticipation for Citadel: Honey Bunny is building as the countdown to its release continues.
