In Gorakhpur on Monday, Hindu women observed Sankashti Chaturthi fast for the safety of their children. In all areas of the city and rural areas, mothers observe Nirjala fast since morning for the long life of their children. With the rising of the moon at around 9.20 pm, mothers have started worshiping Sankashti Chaturthi as per rituals. Today Lord Ganesha and Mata Sakat are being worshipped. Sankashti Chaturthi is also known as Magh Chaturthi and Sakat Chauth. It is believed that on this day, after worshiping Lord Ganesha, mothers must listen to the story of Sankashti Chaturthi.
