The Civil Service Examination, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), is held every year to recruit qualified candidates. This exam is a curriculum-intensive assessment and is regarded as one of the most challenging exams in India. Many candidates, however, manage to qualify for this exam, like Kriti Joshi from Uttarakhand. Kriti failed to qualify for the UPSC exam twice, but managed to clear it on her third attempt in 2022. This space articulates her journey to clear the UPSC exam and become an IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer. An IRS officer supervises employees to ensure that any monies owed to the government (central, state, or regional) are correctly billed and received on time.

Kriti hails from Bhagichaura village in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. She has secured the All-India 274th rank in the UPSC 2022 exam. Her family lives in Ramnagar, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Kritiโ€™s father Dr BD Joshi is a retired medical chief officer who used to work in the Bageshwar town. As of now, he is working as a physician in Ramnagar town. Kritiโ€™s mother is a politician. Kriti has pursued a Bachelor In Technology degree in Production and Industrial Engineering from Delhi Technological University. Then she decided to go for an illustrious career in the field of civil services.

In an interview with a portal, Kriti said that she was not disheartened by her failures in the first two attempts of the UPSC preparation. Kriti said that she had the utmost confidence in herself and decided to go for a third attempt as well. She also discussed her preparation strategy for the UPSC exam. According to Kriti, she focussed a lot on the note-making for the exam. Kriti said that she made extensive notes and revised them thoroughly, which helped her immensely during the preparation. She also prepared for the final interview by giving a lot of mock interviews.

Kriti has also put her best foot forward when it comes to extracurricular activities, including sports during her college years. She also got the honour of leading the sports festival at the Delhi Technological University.
