This facility will make the airport the best in terms of efficiency, along with this, Varanasi has become the third airport in the country to have such a facility. At present, this unit will provide convenience to the passengers of three airlines Air India, Indigo and Air India Express. On Thursday, the Self Baggage Drop System was installed at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in the presence of airport officials.
The airport authorities have installed a Self Service Bag Drop (SSBD) unit in the departure hall of the terminal building for passengers. Passengers of airlines Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express have been made eligible for this facility.
Airport officials say that with this, it has become the third airport in the country and the fourth in the world after Delhi and Mumbai. Traditionally, it takes about four to five minutes to drop luggage at the airport, now passengers will get relief from long queues.
Passengers can bypass the traditional check-in desks and head straight to the Self-Service Bag Drop (SSBD) unit located in Terminal 1. This new service includes everything from the check-in desk to printing boarding passes and getting baggage tags at Common Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks.
Passengers will use it like this
Passengers using DG Yatra will get a lot of convenience from this machine. After entering the DG gate, the passenger will have to go to the self baggage machine and enter his PNR number. After entering the PNR number, he will have to put his luggage on the belt.
At the SSBD unit, you will scan your boarding pass or use a facial recognition camera for identification. Then, simply drop your luggage on the conveyor belt. After dropping the bag, passengers will board the plane via the security hold area. Before this, passengers will have to print out the baggage tag from the self check-in counter. The baggage tag will have to be attached to their bag. This new service will save passengers time and they will not have to stand in long queues.
