Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami will leave for Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy along with captain Rohit Sharma. This five-match Test series will start from November 22 in Perth. The decision on his joining the team will be taken only after one match.
BCCI source told Dainik Bhaskar, Rohit can join the team before the Perth Test. Along with him, Shami can also fly to Australia. Rohit did not leave for Australia with the team due to personal reasons. The remaining members of the team reached Australia on 11 November itself.
Physio Nitin present in Indore to keep an eye on Shami’s fitness Shami returned to the field in the Ranji Trophy match after almost a year. He has been included in the Bengal team in the match being played against Madhya Pradesh.
According to sources, Shami has been included in the team to test his fitness. If he becomes fit, he can be sent to Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Physio Nitin Patel has also been sent to Indore to keep an eye on his fitness.
Shami took 4 wickets for 54 runs in 19 overs in the first innings against Madhya Pradesh. Whereas in the second innings he took 2 wickets for 74 runs in 18 overs.
Last match played on 19th November 34 year old Shami played his last international match in the ODI World Cup final against Australia on 19 November 2023. Shami went to England in January this year and got his ankle surgery done. He spent the last several months undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has played 64 test matches for India. Shami has 229 test wickets in his name.
Rohit became father for the second time Team India’s Test and ODI captain Rohit has become a father for the second time. According to media reports, his wife Ritika Sajdeh gave birth to a son late at night on 15 November. However, this has not been confirmed yet by Rohit or Ritika.
Rohit had taken a break from Team India for the birth of his child. He did not even reach Australia with the team. However, after the birth of his son, it is believed that he may leave for Australia before the Perth Test starting on 22 November.
