Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore recently shared the story of her first meeting with her mother-in-law and Begum of Bhopal, Sajida Sultana. Sharmila told in Twinkle Khanna’s chat show Tweak India that when her future mother-in-law was coming to meet her for the first time, her controversial bikini posters were plastered everywhere in Bombay (now Mumbai). In such a situation, due to fear of her mother-in-law, Sharmila asked her driver to get all the posters removed overnight.

Driver had removed bikini hoardings

During the conversation, Twinkle Khanna had asked Sharmila that her bikini posters in Bombay had suddenly disappeared mysteriously, how had this happened?

In response to this, Sharmila Tagore told that this was the time when talks were going on for the marriage of her and Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. When Mansoor’s mother Begum Sajida Sultana was about to come to Mumbai to meet Sharmila, at the same time the promotion of her film An Evening in Paris was going on, in connection with which her bikini posters were put up everywhere in the city. Sharmila was afraid that her mother-in-law might see the poster, so she asked her driver to remove all the posters around Kamaykal Road.

He advised me to keep myself covered in some shots. Sharmila had said that he was more worried than me, but I did not feel any hesitation in that shoot.

He further said, ‘I was shocked when people started reacting badly on this. I couldn’t understand why people didn’t like those pictures, because I liked them very much. I was young and I was very interested in doing new things. I myself had suggested that photoshoot.
