After making an acting debut on TV at the age of just 15, it is not easy to become a household name at the age of 18. But this impossible task has been made possible by 25 year old actress Shivangi Joshi.

In just 10 years of her career, Shivangi has become one of the highest paid and popular actresses of TV, but it was not easy for her to reach this position. The interesting thing is that Shivangi never wanted to become an actress, she wanted to become a doctor but luckily she became an actress. This week in 'Star Talks' we will talk about Shivangi Joshi, who is a well-known name in the TV industry today.

Face's body shaming at the beginning of his career

Shivangi made her acting debut with the TV show 'Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi'. However, he got real recognition after struggling for 3 years from the TV show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. Shivangi went through a very bad phase in the beginning of her career. From poor financial condition to getting taunted by senior actors on the set and becoming a victim of body shaming, the actress faced a lot. However, now he believes that everyone should go through struggle at least once in their life.

Became an actress to prove people's thinking wrong
Talking to Dainik Bhaskar, Shivangi said, 'I wanted to make a career in the dance field. I wanted to become a choreographer and if I could not become a choreographer, then the other option in my mind was to become a doctor because I was very good in studies. But some such incidents also happened when people taunted me that she was going to become an actress, she had to go to Mumbai… what happened to this? Couldn't you become an actor? Cannot be made… At that time I was in 9th class and then I decided that I would prove everyone wrong. I will show everyone that I can become an actress. After a year we came to Mumbai and from here my acting journey started.

Couldn't sleep the first night I spent in Mumbai
My initial journey in Mumbai was very fun. Actually, there is very less space here compared to houses in small cities. The first flat we got was so small that it had only one room. It was a PG system and other girls also lived there with us. Believe me, I could not sleep the first night in Mumbai. The next day mother talked to the watchman with the help of whom we got a different flat in another building which was better.

at least a day 4 gave auditions
After settling for a few days, we started asking people in Mumbai where the auditions were held? Whenever someone helped us, I used to go and give auditions. Many times I gave at least 4 auditions in a day. Some actors are lucky that they get work as soon as they arrive. There are many who, even after struggling for 10 years, are not able to reach where they want to reach. In the beginning I also had to struggle a lot. However, I consider myself lucky that my struggle lasted only for 6 months.

I give full credit for my success to my mother.
I had to work hard to get my first break. At that time my grandfather was in the hospital, he had a heart attack. My mother lived with me in Mumbai to fulfill my dreams. Whereas father and my brothers and sisters were in Uttarakhand. Our family was scattered and our financial condition was also not good at that time. We were very upset.

There came a time when I couldn't decide whether to stay in Mumbai or return to my hometown. We showed some courage. Didn't give up. During this time my mother supported me a lot. We both encouraged each other. I give full credit to my mother for where I am today. I was sure that I would definitely get the fruits of my honesty and it happened the same.

Earlier senior actors used to criticize on the show

I had to face a lot of criticism on the first day of shooting on the sets of my first show. When I was giving my first shot, I did not understand the camera that much. My director was very helpful, he explained everything to me very lovingly. But some senior artists of the show sitting on the set criticized me a lot. I felt very sad after hearing his words but later my mother explained to me. He said that I have to move forward honestly and work hard. I did it there and today the same senior artists appreciate my work.

YRKKH That Naira will always be close to heart
I can never separate myself from the character of Naira from YRKKH (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai). It will always be close to my heart. I sometimes feel that I am Naira, it is not just a character. I really enjoyed learning kick-boxing during this show. Even after leaving the show, I continued learning boxing. I am learning horse riding and I love learning new things.

I want to play the role of Jhansi ki Rani
Further in my career, I want to play the role of a warrior princess. 'Jhansi Ki Rani' is my favourite. In my childhood, I used to imagine myself in that character many times. I used to think that when I grow up, I will become like the 'Queen of Jhansi'. I remember in my childhood I used to watch this show with my grandfather. He also used to say – You are the queen of my Jhansi. I want to play such a memorable character.

Even today I take out time to learn Kathak from Guruji.

Shivangi also likes classical dance, she is also a trained Kathak dancer. The actress says, 'I love classical dance. I used to enjoy it a lot on the sets of 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. Many times she used to wait for any dance sequence in the show. Even today I find time to learn dance. I still learn Kathak from a Guruji in Mumbai. I learned this dance when I was very young. Due to busy work schedule, I had forgotten a lot of things, hence I have started learning it again. Now I will never stop dancing.

I am very inspired by Kapil Dev sir
Along with acting, Shivangi is also associated with famous cricketer Kapil Dev's NGO 'Khushi' as a youth ambassador. This NGO works in 12 states of the country, in which 48 government schools and education centers help 45,000 children.

Shivangi says, 'No matter how much success I achieve in my career, I will always try to do something good for my country in return. I want to progress as a human being and that is why I am associated with this noble cause of Kapil Dev Sir. I am also very inspired by Kapil sir. He is a legend and it is a matter of pride for me to be associated with him. Our endeavor is to ensure that no child loses his childhood. Do not separate yourself from studies and sports. We help pay their school fees. Kapil sir is very positive. He always motivates. I feel very honored to be associated with their NGO as a Youth Ambassador.

,rains, Respect for journalists increased after doing
While sharing her experience of the TV show 'Barsaatein', Shivangi said – 'I enjoyed the journey of this show a lot. I played the role of a journalist in the show, after which I got to know and learn a lot about this field. After playing this, I realized how much hard work a journalist has to work in his field. My respect for all journalists increased a lot.
