A day before the 5 T20 match series against South Africa, Team India has suffered a major setback. Also, Kuldeep Yadav, who performed brilliantly in IPL, will also not be a part of the team. He too has been ruled out of the entire series due to injury. Now Rishabh Pant will captain Team India for the first time. At the same time, Hardik Pandya has been made the vice-captain of the team. Pant was the captain of Delhi Capitals in IPL. With Rahul’s exit, Rituraj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan will get an opportunity to open for Team India. Earlier either of these two was going to open the innings with Rahul.

This series is being seen as a preparation for the T20 World Cup. The first match of the series will be played from Thursday, June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.

How did Rahul and Kuldeep get hurt?
The BCCI has also informed in its tweet that Indian team captain KL Rahul suffered an injury in the lower right thigh while batting in the net session on Tuesday. Due to this he was ruled out of the entire series against South Africa. At the same time, during the batting itself, Kuldeep Yadav hit the ball in the right hand in the nets, due to which he got injured and had to be out of the series.

Pant to be India’s 8th captain in T20 Internationals
Rishabh Pant will be the 8th captain of India in T20 International cricket. Before him Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have captained India in this format. Pant will be the 42nd captain of India in international cricket.

Team India has a chance to make a world record
India has so far won 12 T20 matches in a row and currently stands at par with Afghanistan and Romania. If Team India wins the first T20 match against South Africa, then it will become the first team in the world to win 13 consecutive T20 International matches.
