Shreyas Iyer ruled out of Nagpur Test: Will join Team India in the second match; Injured in Bangladesh

India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the first Test in Australia. The first Test from Australia was to start on 9 February. Iyer will join the team ahead of the second Test to be held in Delhi on February 17. In his absence, the BCCI has not yet added any player to the team as a replacement.

Rehab will take some more time
Shreyas Iyer was injured in the Test series against Bangladesh in December last year. He had a back injury. But, he played the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January. Due to the seriousness of the injury, he was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Where his rehab started.

He had a fitness test for the Test series on Wednesday. In which experts told that it will take some more time for him to be fully match fit. In such a situation, he will be able to join the team before the Delhi Test.

Were going from Bangalore to Nagpur
He had a minor injury against Bangladesh. However, his injury aggravated in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He went for rehab and could not play the ODI series against New Zealand. After rehab at NCA, Bengaluru, he was to go straight to Nagpur on February 2, where Team India has to play the first Test against Australia. But, due to fitness issue, he will no longer join the team.

Who will replace Iyer?
The BCCI has not yet included any player in the team as a replacement for Iyer. Iyer was part of the 17-member Indian team. In which there are options of middle order batter in the form of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishaan Kishan. At the same time, if KL Rahul opens with Rohit Sharma, then Shubman Gill will also be available for batting in the middle order.

Team India will practice for 4 days in Nagpur
The Indian team will practice for 4 days till February 6 before the first Test in Nagpur. The Australian team will also reach Nagpur on 5th February. The team reached India on Tuesday and is currently practicing in Bengaluru. After practicing for 4 days, he will also reach Nagpur.
