A workshop on gender violence at the workplace was organized by the Mahila Shakti Kendra, affiliated to the Women’s Welfare Department, at the Government Women’s Post Graduate College in Ghazipur. In which women’s welfare officer Neha Rai gave detailed information about physical-mental, family as well as departmental schemes related to violence and women’s welfare.

Shikha Singh, District Coordinator of Mahila Shakti Kendra, introduced the present professors, staff and students about Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Couple Award Scheme, feticide. In the same sequence, detailed information was given to the girl students about Chief Minister Child Service Scheme and prevention of child marriage by One Stop Center by District Coordinator Lakshmi Maurya. The students enthusiastically participated in the program and answered questions.

Massive signature campaign was also organized
Under the National Girl Child Week, a huge signature campaign was also organized on the topic ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Along with this, oath was also administered to all the girl students, professors and employees present for the prevention of feticide. A painting competition was also organized in the college under National Girl Child Week.

While presiding over the program, Principal Dr. Savita Bhardwaj talked about making daughters not only literate but well educated, economically self-reliant and empowering them through various measures to walk shoulder to shoulder with men in the mainstream of the society. Things will be successful only if the government-administration and the local community are equally involved in this.
