Meerut SP MLA Rafiq Ansari came out of jail on Tuesday. He had got bail from Prayagraj High Court 4 days ago. Meerut Police arrested Rafiq Ansari from Barabanki on 27 May. Since then Rafiq Ansari was lodged in Meerut jail.

Rafiq Ansari has got bail in two cases registered in Meerut’s Nauchandi police station in 1995 and Civil Lines police station in 2007. A single bench of Justice Rajiv Mishra of Allahabad High Court granted bail while hearing both the bail petitions.

Petition was filed in Allahabad High Court

In 1995, there was a ruckus in Meerut over the slaughterhouse. 40 people including the MLA were made accused in this case. Rafiq Ansari had filed a petition in Allahabad High Court for bail in the case registered in Nauchandi police station and Civil Lines police station. After hearing two bail petitions, the court granted bail.

On May 27, SP MLA from Meerut, Rafiq Ansari was arrested from Barabanki in the case of non-bailable warrant from Allahabad High Court.

He was arrested in 1995 in a 30-year-old case registered at Nauchandi police station. Rafiq Ansari was arrested after he did not get relief from Allahabad High Court.

His name cropped up in riots, vandalism and arson

In 1995, Rafiq Ansari was accused of creating ruckus and chaos in the Nauchandi police station area of โ€‹โ€‹Meerut. A case of ruckus, chaos, vandalism, arson and attack was registered. Rafiq Ansari was named in it.

There was a ruckus between the Ansari and Qureshi community over meat shops. The mob vandalised and set fire to the shops.

Rafiq Ansari did not appear in court despite the issuance of 101 non-bailable warrants. In 1995, a case was registered against Rafiq Ansari and 40 unknown people in Meerut’s Nauchandi police station.

In this case, the court kept issuing warrants against Rafiq Ansari but he did not appear. When the trial court issued NBW, the SP MLA went to the High Court to get a stay on it and cancel the FIR.
