Actress Pankhuri Awasthi made her Bollywood debut last year with ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. If the actress is to be believed, she wants to explore more platforms in her career. Be it music video or television or film. Recently, the actress also shot for the TV show ‘Madam Sir’ in which she is playing the role of a police officer. During an exclusive conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Pankhuri shared some special things related to her professional life.

want to connect myself
Talking about the TV show, Pankhuri says, “It’s very different from the kind of roles I’ve played on television before. The kind of characters I’ve played have been gorgeous. I’ve got to wear special outfits for those characters. Had to wear heavy jewellery. In Meera’s case, it’s more real. Wearing a police uniform gives you a different kind of pride. I want to do some characters in my career with which I connect myself I can do it.”

This role is very challenging
She adds, “I am playing an artificial intelligence officer in this show which is quite challenging. We didn’t want to keep it too robotic and even in a zone with voice assistants like Alexa and Siri. Ending. In I, we decided that the character would speak very simply because that’s how its maker programmed him. It talks in a very human way; however, his body language is flat and straight. I don’t wink during my dialogues. Blink, because robots have been trained to see humans, understand their emotions, change and become completely independent.”

I want to work in different platform
On her Bollywood debut, Pankhuri says, “I am very happy that I got a chance to make my Bollywood debut with a film like ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. That film got a lot of positive response. There was a time when television actors were stereotyped. Used to go, they did not get much opportunity to work on any other platform. But now the time has changed, many opportunities have opened for the actors. Now the gap between different platforms has reduced. This change has been seen after the popularity of OTT platform. I consider myself lucky that I got an opportunity to take my talent to my audience through different mediums.”

We respect each other’s work
So does husband Gautam Rode give his opinion on her shows and characters? “The best part is that we both respect each other’s choices a lot. Yes, we do discuss work and share our thoughts about each character, which is a good thing (smiles). Let me tell you, Pankhuri has also been a part of shows like ‘Suryaputra Karna’, ‘Lal Ishq’ etc.
