- Carnival, mirage and single screen not obeyed by Reliance’s terms
The multiplexes have been divided about the release of ‘Suryavanshi’. Officials and trade pundits associated with Reliance have said that there are doubts about the film’s release in three big cine chains. They are Cine Chain PVR, Inox and Cinepolis. Reliance Entertainment remains deadlocked with these three. Actually, Reliance is looking for more revenue sharing, which does not seem beneficial to these three multiplex chains. In such a situation there was a situation of deadlock between all the concerned parties till the time of writing the news.
Official statement will be released in a few days
Kamal Gyanchandani, CEO of PVR Cine Chain, however declined to comment on the issue. He expressed his intention of PVR by simply saying ‘no comment’ on the demand for multiplexes. However, in the next few days both Multiplex Chain and Reliance will issue their official statements in this regard. Inox officials also said that official statements will come by next week. Cinepolis officer Devang Sampat also maintained silence on the issue. Trade pundit Taran Adarsh says, ‘There are a lot of rumors going on in the market. I think let the three cine chains officially say yes or no.
Revenue sharing and OTT release are important reasons
Whether or not PVR, Inox and Cinepolis will release remains skeptical. Although Carnival, Mirage agrees to release the film. Kunal Sahni, Senior VP, Carnival Cine Chan said, “Most of the issues with Reliance have been resolved. Official statements will be released for a separate week. We will release the film here.
Big deal from Netflix
Meanwhile, OTT Giant Netflix has given a big offer to Reliance Entertainment. According to Trade Sources, ‘Reliance has received an offer of 180 crores for the film from OTT. Also, Netflix has no objection to the film being released on single screen. They are also offering big money to Reliance. Therefore, there is a strong possibility of digital release of ‘Suryavanshi’.
No separation from Rohit Shetty
There are reports in the trade corridor that Rohit Shetty is upset with Reliance’s stand. He wants the film to be released in as many cinemas as possible. Now the sword is hanging on the film’s release in three big cine chains of the country. When Bhaskar investigated it, nothing came out of it. Rohit Shetty’s team members said – Reliance has rights on the film’s IPR. Our only job was to make the film and give it to Reliance. He did not interfere in our creative work. We cannot interfere in their business. Still the deadlock may be resolved in the next few days. Otherwise Reliance is free to take the decision.
150 crore making and 1.5 crore interest
Reliance people are actually demanding more revenue sharing from theaters because 150 million has been spent in their making. Also, he has kept the film on hold since the lockdown. Due to this, the interest amount on them is being made up to 1.5 crore Not only this, the film’s releases abroad are in danger, as Kovid is expected to remain. As such, they are being compensated by the OTT platform. At the same time, he was demanding more revenue than multiplexes. It does not have a clear position with three big cine chains at the moment.
