First batch of Indian cricketers has arrived in the USA for the T20 World Cup
Rohit Sharma & Co will rest for the next two days before beginning their practice sessions in America.
Now that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is done, the focus will soon shift on the Rohit Sharma’s Team India which will compete in the T20 World Cup 2024, starting later this week. The first batch of the Indian cricket team landed in New York on Monday morning.
The team members took off from Mumbai on Saturday night. After a short layover in Dubai they have arrived in the United States on Monday morning to participate in the showpiece event. The Indian skipper, along with Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and traveling reserves Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed touched down New York on Monday.
According to Star Sports, Rohit Sharma & Co will rest for the next two days before beginning their practice sessions in America. Team India will square off against Bangladesh in a practice game on June 1. The inaugural champions will begin their campaign in the T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5.
Earlier on Monday, News18 CricketNext had reported that will likely link up with the squad before the warm-up fixture. The second batch of players left this morning and Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be joining the squad soon.
The entire support staff, led by head coach Rahul Dravid, also arrived with the first batch, and Hardik Pandya is understood to be reached directly from London. India’s premier all-rounder, Mumbai Indians, was on vacation after his IPL side crashed out in the league stages. He was scheduled to travel directly from London to New York.
The Indian cricket team will stay at a five-star hotel not very far away from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The venue will host the side’s warm-up fixture and three more matches—vs. Ireland, Pakistan, and USA—before they culminate the group stage vs. Canada in Florida.
