T20 World Cup 2024 champions Team India are stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. The Indian team was supposed to fly to New York on Monday i.e. today to come to India, but the team’s schedule has been disrupted due to bad weather.

The report said that the winds are blowing at a speed of 210 km per hour due to the storm Beryl coming in the Atlantic. This category 4 storm was about 570 km east-southeast of Barbados and due to this the operations at the airport are currently halted. The situation is such that the airport may have to be closed for a day.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah told reporters in Barbados, “Like you, we are also stuck here. We will think about the team’s felicitation ceremony once the travel schedule is clear.”

There may be a delay in returning to India
A source told PTI that as per the schedule, the team was to go from here (Bridgetown) to New York and then reach India via Dubai. Now the plan is to take a chartered flight directly from here to Delhi. A meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also being considered after reaching there. There are about 70 members there including supporting staff, families and officials.

Team India became world champion on 29 June
The team won the T20 World Cup on 29 June. The Indian team has become the champion in this tournament after 17 years. Not only this, India has ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought. India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final match at the Barbados ground.
